For many people this is a problem. I can still remember that when I was looking for my first DJ set, I was very shocked by the prices. Fortunately, now there are also affordable options, also from the market leader Pioneer! Pioneer has equipment for every budget.

Here we have a list of DJ equipment that we recommend if you want to practice at home:

 

1.Pioneer DDJ-400 (€279)

The Pioneer DDJ-400 is a DJ controller that we recommend because of its price. Despite its price, the DDJ-400 shares a lot with its big brothers. If you are used to this controller, you are also prepared for the DJ sets at most large parties.

Since the DDJ-400 is a controller, a computer is required. This can be an advantage. If you already have all of your music on your computer, you don’t just have to transfer parts of your library to a USB. The software is included with the DDJ-400, so you can immediately use all the functionality of your controller.

The included software is Rekordbox DJ, perfect for Pioneer DJ equipment.

 

2. Pioneer DDJ-FLX6 (€595)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The DDJ-FLX6 is the newest DJ controller, the layout of the control panel on the DDJ-FLX6 is similar to that of our classic CDJ + DJM club setup with 4 channels. You have all the features of a CDJ so you will be ready to play on the other equipments also. It’s more expensive than the DDJ-400 because you can practice with 4 channels, make awesome scratch effects and it has a new feature Merge FX. With Merge FX you can make cool transitions, here is a video about how this works and sounds.

The included software is Rekordbox DJ and Serato DJ Pro, perfect for Pioneer DJ equipment.

 

Second-hand options:

Really good DJ equipment is made to last for years. Even in technology unfriendly club conditions. This has several advantages. This ensures that your equipment does not quickly depreciate and thus remains a good investment. But also that the good equipment that Pioneer used to make is still available today!

3.Pioneer XDJ-AERO (+- €350,-)

The XDJ-AERO is the result when a DJ controller and a standalone DJ set would have a baby. It has the compactness of a controller but the independence of an XDJ-RX2. It has everything you need for a perfect mix.

The mixer section of the XDJ-AERO feels comparable to any other pioneer set and exudes quality. A big advantage of the XDJ-AERO is that each player has its own screen, so that enjoyment quickly confuses something. On the screens you will see the music library of your USB in the way that you have classified it with Rekordbox. Because your USBs for the XDJ-AERO are classified with Rekordbox, your USBs are immediately suitable for the DJ sets that you use during lessons.

 

4.Pioneer XDJ-RR (+-€1.069)

The XDJ-RR is the predecessor of the XDJ-RX2 and is just as pleasant to run with. These two brothers are very similar in many ways. The XDJ-RR has the rotary control to navigate on the screen in the center of the mixer instead of next to the screen as with the XDJ-RX2 and CDJ-2000 series. The screen is also different, the XDJ-RR has no touchscreen. The main points for DJs are otherwise identical, which makes the XDJ-RX2 very interesting in terms of price. This set is also very interesting for producers because of its built-in high quality sound card.
